About your data
Where your messages and files go when you use your assistant, which companies handle them, and where those companies are based.
This page describes how the service works as of October 6, 2026. We update it when something changes.
The short answer
- Your assistant lives on its own private server. One server per customer, not shared. Your files, your lists and your chat history are kept there. On a paid plan, the server is in your own DigitalOcean account.
- The AI models that read your messages are run by American companies.Today those are OpenAI, Anthropic and Google.
- No company based in China receives your messages or your files. If that were ever going to change, we would tell you first and you would decide.
Who handles what
| What | What it sees | Who runs it |
|---|---|---|
| Your private server | Everything your assistant keeps: files, lists, notes and chat history. | On a paid plan: DigitalOcean, United States, in your own account. Demos are short free trials that Sam sets up. |
| The model that chats | The texts you and your assistant exchange, and whatever from your notes is needed to answer. | OpenAI, United States. |
| The model that builds pages | What is needed to make the page or tool you asked for. | Anthropic, United States. |
| The model that looks at photos | The photos you send your assistant. | Google, United States. |
| The model router | Passes your messages to the right model. Each customer has their own key with a spending limit. | OpenRouter, United States. |
| Text messaging | Your texts while they travel between your phone and your server. | Apple (iMessage) and a texting service that we set up and manage. |
| Web search | Only the words of the search. Not your files. | Exa, United States. |
| Public pages | Only the pages you approve to put on the public web. | Netlify, United States. |
| Our monitoring dashboard | Only numbers that tell us your server is fine: memory, disk, how many texts you sent your assistant each day, and what the model cost each day. Never what the texts say. | Agent Lead Engine, on Netlify, United States. |
| Agent Lead Engine | During a demo, Sam can read conversations to fix problems. Your assistant tells you so if you ask. On a paid plan, what we can see depends on your plan. | Agent Lead Engine LLC, New York, United States. |
What your assistant does not do
- It does not read your own email or sign in to your accounts. It only sees what you send it.
- It does not send messages or post anything as you. It drafts; you send.
- Never send a password in a text. Logins go only on your private Settings page. They are stored on your own server, and the assistant never sees the password itself.
- It is not meant for card numbers, Social Security numbers or medical records. If you paste one, it asks you to delete it.
If you want other AI models
Some AI models were created by Chinese companies but are open, so other companies run them on their own machines. We do not use any today. If you ever want to try one, we limit it to American or European companies, so your messages never pass through a company in China.
- American companies that run them: Together, Fireworks, Amazon Bedrock, Baseten, DigitalOcean, Cloudflare and Microsoft Azure.
- European companies that run some of them: Mistral (France) and Nebius (Netherlands).
We know where each company is based. We cannot always see which building a given message is processed in, so we do not promise an exact country for each one.
Your data is yours
- The Memory tab on your private page shows the notes it keeps about you. You can read and erase them there. To clear its deeper memory store, ask Sam.
- You can download all your files from your private page. Ask your assistant for the link.
- If you leave, you can take your files with you. On a paid plan, the server stays in your account. After a demo, you can ask us to delete it.
