Journal by text
You text a few lines about your day, and your assistant keeps them as your journal.
Works today
Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.
Suggested tools
You can set these up yourself. Get the app, follow the steps, then copy the prompt.
Journal
Apple's free diary app for iPhone. You can save an entry as a PDF.
Download for iPhoneOpen the website
- Write in the Journal app as usual.
- To share one entry, tap the More button on the entry, then tap Print, then tap the Share button.
- Choose Messages and send the PDF to your assistant. A screenshot also works.
- Share only the entries you want it to read.
Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant
I write in the Journal app on my iPhone and sometimes I want to think an entry through with you. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: on the entry I tap the More button, Print, then Share, choose Messages and send the PDF here. A screenshot also works. Then ask me two questions that help me think more about it. Do not save it unless I ask.
Your assistant cannot open your Journal app. It is not a therapist, and during a demo Sam can see what you send.
Day One
A diary app for iPhone and Android. The free plan lets you write as much as you want.
Download for iPhoneDownload for AndroidOpen the website
- Write in Day One as usual.
- To share one entry, open it and use Share to send the text to your assistant in Messages.
- To share a whole month, use Export in the app settings, pick the dates, and choose PDF.
- Add the PDF to your files page and tell your assistant it is there.
Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant
I write in Day One and I want you to read last month with me. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: in the app settings I use Export, pick the dates, choose PDF, and add the PDF to my files page. Then tell me what themes you notice. Keep it short and kind.
Your assistant cannot open Day One. Day One locks your journal on your phone, but anything you send to your assistant leaves that lock.
What to text
Start a journal for me. I will text you a few lines most nights.
Journal: long day. Finished the Miller job. Proud of how the floor came out. Tired.
Ask me 3 questions about my day.
Tell me my wins from this month.
Read me what I wrote last week. What do you notice?
Steps
- Text: "Start a journal for me."
- To add an entry, start your text with the word "Journal" and write a few lines.
- Not sure what to write? Text: "Ask me 3 questions about my day."
- Once a week, ask it to read back your entries.
- On a hard day, ask: "Tell me my wins from this month."
Example conversation
Journal: long day. Finished the Miller job. Proud of how the floor came out. Tired.
Saved to your journal for today. One question, if you want it: what made the floor come out so well?
I took my time on the prep.
Added. "Took my time on the prep." That is worth remembering for the next job.
Make it stick
- Two lines count. A short entry most nights beats a long one once a month.
- Write at the same time, like right before bed.
- Missed a week? Just start again. No need to fill in the gap.
What it will not do
It is a journal, not a therapist. During a demo, Sam can see conversations, so write only what you are comfortable sharing. To delete something it remembered, send /forget.
Demo notice
During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.
