Track my weight, blood pressure or blood sugar

You text a number, or a photo of the screen, and your assistant keeps a log you can show your doctor.

Works today

Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.

Suggested tools

You can set these up yourself. Get the app, follow the steps, then copy the prompt.

  • Apple Health

    Free

The Health app on your iPhone. You can type in your weight, blood pressure or blood sugar and see a chart.

    Download for iPhone

    1. Open the Health app and find the number you track, like Weight or Blood Pressure.
    2. Tap Add Data to type in a new reading.
    3. Once a week, take a screenshot of the chart or the list of readings.
    4. Text the screenshot to your assistant.

Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant

    • I want to keep my readings, like weight or blood pressure, in the Health app and share them with you. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: add a reading with Add Data, then once a week send a screenshot of the list. Then add them to my log and make a short list I can show my doctor.

Your assistant does not say if a number is good or bad for you. That is a question for your doctor.

  • OMRON connect

Free app (you need an OMRON monitor that connects). Optional paid plans start at $9.49 a month as listed on the App Store.

The app for OMRON blood pressure monitors. It saves each reading from the monitor to your phone.

    Download for iPhoneDownload for Android

    1. Take your readings with your OMRON monitor and let them sync to the app.
    2. Easy way: open History, take a screenshot and text it to your assistant.
    3. Full way: in History tap the Share icon, pick the dates, pick PDF or CSV, and email the report to yourself.
    4. Save the file from that email and upload it on your private files page.

Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant

    • I have an OMRON blood pressure monitor and the OMRON connect app. I want you to keep my readings. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step. The easy way is a screenshot of History. The full way is the Share icon in History, a PDF or CSV sent to my own email, then I upload it to my files page. Then add the readings to my log and make a one page list for my next doctor visit.

It only works with OMRON monitors. Your assistant does not judge your readings or tell you what to do about them.

  • mySugr

Free. Optional mySugr PRO: $4.99 a month or $39.99 a year.

A logbook app for blood sugar. You type each reading or connect an Accu-Chek meter.

    Download for iPhoneDownload for Android

    1. Log your readings in mySugr.
    2. Once a week, open the screen with your readings and take a screenshot.
    3. Text the screenshot to your assistant.

Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant

    • I log my blood sugar in mySugr and I want you to keep a copy. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: once a week I open the screen with my readings, take a screenshot and send it here. Then add the readings to my log and list them by day for my doctor.

The PDF and Excel reports in mySugr need the paid plan. Your assistant never suggests insulin or medicine changes.

What to text

  • Start a blood pressure log for me.

  • Blood pressure today, 8 in the morning: 128 over 82.

  • Weight today: 184 pounds.

  • Blood sugar before breakfast: 112.

  • Here is a photo of my monitor. Add the reading to my log.

  • Show me my readings for the last 2 weeks as a list I can show my doctor.

Steps

  1. Text what you want to track. For example: "Start a blood pressure log for me."
  2. Each time you measure, text the number with the day and the time.
  3. Or send a photo of the scale or the monitor screen.
  4. Read its reply. Check that it wrote the number down right.
  5. Before a doctor visit, ask for your readings as a list. Take a screenshot to show the doctor.

Example conversation

You:Photo: a blood pressure monitor showing 128 / 82

Add this to my log. Monday morning.

Your assistant:

I read 128 over 82, pulse 71. I added it to your blood pressure log for Monday morning. Is that right?

You:

Yes. Show me this week.

Your assistant:

This week:
Monday morning: 128 / 82
Wednesday morning: 131 / 84
Friday morning: 126 / 80

I can list these for your doctor any time. I cannot tell you what they mean for your health. Your doctor can.

This is an example. The words your assistant uses will be different.

Make it stick

  • Measure at the same time each day, then text right away.
  • Track one number first. Add a second one later if you want.
  • It does not text you first. Keep the monitor where you will see it.

What it will not do

It keeps a list of your numbers. It does not diagnose, and it does not read results the way a doctor would. It does not tell you to change a medicine or a dose. If a number worries you, call your doctor. In an emergency, call 911.

Demo notice

During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.

Your health

Talk to your doctor before you change a medicine, start hard exercise with a health condition, or follow a strict diet.
