Look something up before I buy

Your assistant looks things up on the web and gives you a short list to choose from, with what to check yourself.

Works today

Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.

Suggested tools

You can set these up yourself. Get the app, follow the steps, then copy the prompt.

  • Google Lens (in the Google app)

    Free

Point your camera at a product and Google tells you what it is and where it is sold.

Download for iPhoneDownload for AndroidOpen the website

    1. Open the Google app and tap the camera icon. Point it at the product or its label.
    2. Find the exact name or model number in the results.
    3. Take a screenshot of the results, or copy a product link.
    4. Text it to your assistant with the message below.

Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant

    • I want help checking a product before I buy it, using Google Lens. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: in the Google app I tap the camera icon, point it at the product or label, then send you a screenshot of the results or a product link. Then tell me the exact name and model, find 3 options like it with prices and where to buy, and tell me what to check myself before I pay.

Lens can match the wrong product, and prices change. Check the price where you buy. Your assistant never buys anything.

What to text

  • I need a pressure washer for my cleaning business. I use it 3 days a week. Give me the top 3 and why.

  • Compare these two: (name both). Which fits a small crew better?

  • I got 3 quotes for a new garage door. Here they are: (paste or send photos). Compare them and list questions to ask each one.

  • What should I look for when I buy a used work van?

  • Where did you find that? Give me the links.

Steps

  1. Text what you need and how you will use it. Add your budget.
  2. It may ask permission before it opens a website. Reply yes or no.
  3. Ask for a top 3 with the reasons, not a long list.
  4. Ask where it found the information.
  5. Check the price and the details on the store's own website before you pay. It can be wrong or out of date.
  6. You do the buying yourself.

Example conversation

You:

I need a pressure washer for my cleaning business. I use it 3 days a week. Give me the top 3 and why.

Your assistant:

I can look that up. May I open a few websites to compare them?

You:

Yes. My budget is 500.

Your assistant:

Here are 3 that fit, with what stands out for each: one built for daily use, one that is lighter to carry, and one with the lowest price. I listed where I found each one. Prices change, so please check them on the store's website before you buy.

This is an example. The words your assistant uses will be different.

Make it stick

  • Tell it how you really use the thing. "3 days a week, one person, fits in a van" gets a better answer.
  • Use it to cut a long search down to 3 choices. Then check those 3 yourself.

What it will not do

It does not buy anything and does not need your card. Never text card numbers. Prices and product details it gives can be wrong, so check them where you buy. We can also set it to look only on websites you approve. That is an add-on, and it cannot be on at the same time as reminders today.

Demo notice

During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.
