Help centerLearning and self Works today
What does that word mean?
Tech words are confusing on purpose. Ask your assistant what one means and it tells you in plain words. The common ones are also on this page.
Works today
Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.
What to text
What does "upload" mean? Explain it like I have never used a computer.
You said a word I do not know. Say that again in plain words.
From now on, do not use tech words with me.
What is this asking me to do? (send a screenshot)
What is the difference between an app and a website?
Steps
- When a word stops you, text it to your assistant and ask what it means.
- If the answer is still confusing, text: "Simpler."
- Tell it once: "Do not use tech words with me." It will remember.
Example conversation
The guide says to export my data. What is that?
It means the app saves a copy of your information as one file, so you can hand it to me. Want the steps, one at a time?
yes
Common words, in plain words
- File. One saved thing: a photo, a letter, a list.
- Upload. Pick a file on your phone and hand it to your assistant's page.
- Download. The opposite: save a file from a page onto your phone.
- Export. An app saves a copy of your information as a file you can share.
- Screenshot. A photo of what is on your screen right now.
- Link. Words or an address you tap to open a page.
- App. A program on your phone with its own icon. A website is a page you open by its address, with nothing to install.
- Browser. The app that opens websites. On an iPhone it is Safari, the blue compass.
- Online. On the internet, where other people can see it if you share the address.
- Code. The short number a company texts you to prove it is you. Never give one to anyone who calls or texts you first.
Make it stick
- No question is too basic. Ask as many times as you need.
- A screenshot helps when you do not know the name of what you are looking at.
What it will not do
It explains words. It cannot see your screen unless you send a screenshot.
