Keep up with kids' schedules and school notes

You send a photo of a school note or a team schedule, and your assistant pulls out the dates and what you need to do.

Works today

Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.

Suggested tools

You can set these up yourself. Get the app, follow the steps, then copy the prompt.

  • ParentSquare

Free for parents. It only works if your child's school uses ParentSquare.

The app many schools use to send notes, forms and dates to parents.

Download for iPhoneDownload for AndroidOpen the website

    1. Sign in with the email or phone number the school has for you.
    2. Open the school post you want help with.
    3. Take a screenshot. For a long post, take two or three.
    4. Text the screenshots to your assistant with your question.

Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant

    • My kids' school uses ParentSquare and I want help keeping up. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: I open the school post, take a screenshot (two or three if it is long) and send it here. Then tell me what I need to do and by when, and save the dates to the kids' schedule.

Your assistant cannot sign in to ParentSquare or answer the school for you. It reads only the screenshots you send.

What to text

  • Here is a photo of a note from school. What do I need to do, and by when?

  • Here is the soccer schedule. List every date and time.

  • Turn this school email into a checklist: (paste the email)

  • What do the kids have this week?

  • Write a short note to the teacher. My daughter will be out on Friday for a doctor visit.

  • Explain this homework so I can help my son. He is 8.

Steps

  1. Take a clear photo of the note or the schedule.
  2. Text it with your question. For example: "What do I need to do, and by when?"
  3. Check the dates and times against the paper.
  4. Ask it to save the dates as "kids' schedule."
  5. Add the dates to your own calendar yourself. It cannot do that yet.
  6. Any day, text: "What do the kids have this week?"

Example conversation

You:Photo: a note from school

What do I need to do, and by when?

Your assistant:

This note is about a field trip to the science museum on Thursday, May 9. You need to:
1. Sign the permission slip and return it by Monday, May 6
2. Send 8 dollars
3. Pack a lunch that day

Do you want me to save these dates to the kids' schedule?

You:

Yes.

Your assistant:

Saved. Please add May 6 and May 9 to your own calendar too.

This is an example. The words your assistant uses will be different.

Make it stick

  • Send the photo the day the paper comes home, before it gets lost.
  • Ask "What do the kids have this week?" every Sunday.
  • School emails can also be forwarded to your assistant. That needs the email inbox add-on.

What it will not do

It does not add anything to your calendar and does not write to the school for you. It drafts the note. You send it. This is a tool for parents. It is not set up for children to use.

Demo notice

During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.
