Understand a bill or letter
You send a photo of a bill or a letter, and your assistant tells you in plain words what it says.
Works today
Nothing to connect. You only text your assistant.
Suggested tools
You can set these up yourself. Get the app, follow the steps, then copy the prompt.
Notes document scanner (built into iPhone)
It turns a paper page into a clear scan with your iPhone camera.
- Cover any account number, card number or Social Security number with a sticky note.
- Open Notes and start a new note. Tap the Attachment button, then tap Scan Documents.
- Hold the phone over the page. It scans by itself. Tap Done.
- Tap the scan, tap the share button and send it to your assistant in Messages.
Copy this prompt and give it to your assistant
I got a letter and I want to scan it with the Notes app on my iPhone. Walk me through it one step at a time and wait for me after each step: I cover any account or Social Security number, open a new note, tap the Attachment button, Scan Documents, tap Done, then share the scan to you in Messages. Then tell me in plain words what it says, what I need to do, and if there is a deadline.
It only makes the scan. It does not hide numbers for you, so cover them before you scan.
Google Drive scanner
It turns a paper page into a PDF with your Android phone camera.

The scan is also saved in your Google Drive. It does not hide numbers for you, so cover them before you scan.
What to text
Here is a photo of a letter. Tell me in plain words what it says.
Here is a photo of a bill. What is it for, how much, and when is it due?
What do I need to do after reading this letter? Is there a deadline?
List questions I should ask when I call them about this.
Explain this in Spanish.
Draft a short reply asking for more time to pay.
Steps
- Cover any account number, card number or Social Security number. A sticky note works.
- Take a clear photo of the page. All the words should show.
- Text the photo with your question.
- Read the answer. Then ask: "Is there a deadline?" and "What do I need to do?"
- Check dates and amounts against the paper yourself.
- If you need to answer, ask for a draft. You send it yourself.
Example conversation
Tell me in plain words what this says.
This letter is from your insurance company. It says your policy renews on March 1 and the price is going up. It asks you to call before February 15 if you want to change your coverage. You do not need to do anything if you want to keep it as it is.
List questions I should ask when I call.
Questions to ask:
1. Why did the price go up?
2. Are there discounts I am not getting?
3. What happens to the price if I raise the deductible?
4. Can I have this in writing?
Make it stick
- Use it the day the mail comes. A letter you understand is easier to deal with.
- Always ask about the deadline. Then put the date where you will see it.
What it will not do
It can explain a letter in plain words and list questions to ask. It is not a lawyer and does not give legal advice. This includes court, tax and immigration letters. It can misread a date or an amount. For anything with a deadline or legal effect, ask a licensed professional.
Your money
This is for organizing and explaining only. It does not pick investments and does not give tax or legal advice. For those, ask a licensed professional. Never text bank passwords, card numbers or full account numbers. Cover them in photos.
Demo notice
During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.
