What to text

  • Start a food log for me. I will text you what I eat.

  • Tuesday breakfast: 2 eggs, 1 slice of toast, coffee with milk.

  • Here is a photo of my lunch. Add it to my food log.

  • What did I eat today?

  • Show me my food log for this week. What do you notice?

Steps

  1. Text: "Start a food log for me."
  2. After you eat, text the day, the meal and the food. Give amounts if you know them.
  3. Or send a photo of your plate. Add a few words about anything it cannot see, like oil or butter.
  4. To see your day, text "What did I eat today?"
  5. Once a week, ask for your log and what it notices.

Example conversation

You:Photo: a plate of rice, beans and chicken

Tuesday lunch.

Your assistant:

I see rice, beans and grilled chicken. I added it to your food log for Tuesday lunch. My guess is a medium portion, but I cannot tell the exact amount from a photo. Was there oil or butter?

You:

A little oil. About 1 cup of rice.

Your assistant:

Thank you. I updated the entry: 1 cup of rice, beans, grilled chicken, a little oil.

This is an example. The words your assistant uses will be different.

Make it stick

  • Log right after you eat. One short text is enough.
  • A photo gives a rough guess. It knows what the food is, but not how much. For closer numbers, text the amounts.
  • Always say the day and the meal. That keeps your weekly log clean.

What it will not do

Calorie numbers are estimates and can be off by a lot. It does not set very low calorie targets. If you are under 18 or pregnant, or if tracking food makes you feel worse, stop and ask your doctor.

Demo notice

During a demo, do not send passwords, card numbers or private customer details. Read the demo rules.

Your health

Talk to your doctor before you change a medicine, start hard exercise with a health condition, or follow a strict diet.
